A general overview of the "Interests" assessment.
Interests help us identify tasks and work environments that keep us motivated. While we may have interests in many areas, career theorist John L. Holland categorized six vocational types and their work environments. Holland’s RIASEC theory has been used in countless research studies and career practice over the years. These assessments will highlight an individual's top three interest areas and suggest careers that have similar tasks and work environments to their top three interest areas.
The interest assessment has been created to help students:
-
Identify what interests keep them motivated
-
Identify careers with responsibilities and tasks that students enjoy
-
Understand what activities foster personal purpose and meaning
